- Type of activity: lecture, small group problem solving (paper and pencil)
- Course level: Pre Algebra
- Topic: Solving equations
- Materials: None
- Time required: 20 to 30 minutes
- Description: Student use a formula to solve problems provided by Mesa College’s Veterinary Program. The equations are the simplest of linear equations. When doctors, nurses, and veterinarians want a particular dosage of medicine, they often have to dilute a “stock solution” with sterile water. In this activity students will generate equations and solve them in order to figure out how to correctly dilute a dosage of medicine.
